A newcomer to the university club, Solent joined up in 2005. It’s a modern campus in the middle of Southampton (plus a merchant navy training site four miles up the coast at Warsash)... more detail The Solent campus is busy with a tight community feel thanks to its small size, and specialises in vocational subjects like business, media and maritime courses... more on academic Seafaring students are well catered for with some nifty specialist tanks, simulations and the English Channel on their watery doorstep. Also, the one star academic rating is definitely harsh. Solent is top 5 in the country for several courses, including my course (journalism), maritime studies, film studies and construction. True, they may not be traditional academic subjects, but they're still worth their weight when it comes to fighting for graduate jobs. In terms of entry requirements, they are presumably recorded as so low on here due to the number of ND, HND type courses Solent still offers. For degree courses you're looking at, at the very least, 180 points from 3 A levels or the equivalent.
