Firstly, Warwick University is not in Warwick. It is a 500-acre piece of civic lost property somewhere in the hinterland between Coventry and Leamington Spa. Although built in the 60s, the quirky, colourful campus is a breath of fresh air from other modern unis’ concrete monoliths. Almost completely self-contained, the majority of first years living here never need to leave – with more than ten bars, top flight sports facilities, the swanktastic Arts Centre and the largest Student Union building in Europe, the campus is almost like a holiday camp ... more detail Cabin fever can be relieved by jaunts into leafy Leamington, where most students live, or Coventry, which has the edge in the nightlife department ... more on entertainment Warwick hits hard across the academic board, with admiring nods at its teaching, research tradition and cosy industry links ... more on academic Sportingly, the ethos isn’t so much ‘sports for all’ as ‘all sports for all – as long as we trash Coventry Uni’ ... more on sports There’s a baffling range of athletic pursuits on offer, matched by the baffling range of societies to join ... more on the SU To top it all, wheelchair access is among the best in the country ... more on welfare

Woohoo: The renowned Arts Centre is the sexiest outside London
Boo: Students get turfed out of halls during conference season
