What should I be doing this month?

Year 12

  • If you're doing AS levels, you're halfway there. While bad results won't necessarily take you out of the running, they will decide your predicted grades and count towards your final results at the end of Year 13. Click here for Push's guide on keeping your cool during exams.

Year 13

So you’ve picked a uni, filled in the form and bagged the offers. Now all that remains is to gird your loins for the final push: the exams.

  • As soon as your exams are over, if you haven’t already visited your chosen universities, arrange to do so.
  • 12 June: Last date for UCAS to receive Route B applications. After this they won't be forwarded to universities and you'll receive details about Clearing instead.
  • 30 June: UCAS application deadline for most courses (not Route B). Applications received after this date won’t be forwarded to the universities. Instead, they send you details of Clearing and recommend that you contact the universities directly.

Year 12

So you’ve shimmied through the AS Level hoop – congrats and all that. But just in case you’re stuck for something to do, have a look at Push’s capital guide to Student Money and get to grips with student finance.

Year 13

Exams are over and it’s finally time to put your feet up. Right? Well, almost.

  • If you’ve nabbed a place at your chosen university, all you need to worry about is bagging the grades when the results come out in August. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, go and visit, think about what to take with you and polish your most persuasive pick-up lines for freshers’ week.
  • If you haven’t been made any offers, or have turned down the ones that you’ve got, there’s still time to choose vacancies through UCAS Extra. You’ve got until the 7th July to make your choice.

Year 12

  • 14th August is when AS Level results come out.
  • Start preparing your UCAS form. Write your ‘personal statement’ and finalise the list of places you want to apply to.

Year 13

  • 14th August is when A Level results come out
  • 5th August is when Scottish Highers results come out.
  • Clearing: if you haven’t got a place and are determined not to take a gap year, chase vacancies through the Clearing system.
  • Make sure that you’ve sorted out your student funding and accommodation.
  • Work out a budget of income and spending.
