Five minutes stroll from the centre of Birmingham, the not-quite triangular Aston Triangle houses the modern, green, landscaped campus of brown, brick buildings that make up Aston University. The en suite rooms are a lot sexier than the standard, which tend to be a bit gritty and high rise...more on housing

Entertainment wise- how can you forget about Drayton Manor?! Its great and closer and cheaper than Alton Towers, although admittedly, the queuing sucks and the rides aren't as good as Alton.
